Dog Training Courses
Can you believe that it's that time of the year again? The temperature is cooling down, the daylight is starting to diminish, and the birds are beginning to migrate. Yes, duck hunting season is upon us! You probably have a few hunting buddies, but no hunting buddy is more important than your four-legged canine companion. To get the most out of your hunting excursions, it is imperative that you keep your dog well trained and in good shape throughout the year. Here are a few helpful tips to keep your hunting pooch in good shape for hunting season.

1.) Nutrition
Nutrition is an important factor to keeping your dog in shape. Make sure that your dog is on a proper diet and make sure you are not giving them too much or too little food. With the right diet, your dog will be ready to go on the hunt at a moment's notice.

Don't overdo it, though—it's important to maintain a healthy balance by making sure your dog gets plenty of exercise as well. If you're not sure about proper nutrition, consult with your veterinarian to find out what kind of food your dog requires.

2.) Training
To keep your dog healthy and active at all times, it's best to follow a regular training regiment. As hunting season approaches, it may also be a good idea to make the training a bit more intensive in preparation for the coming hunts.

Some key training areas to practice include shooting the gun over their head, maintaining obedience, throwing birds for marks, and working with decoys to help your dogs get out of blinds. These training sessions will benefit the dog since it will help them prepare for the hunt both physically and mentally.

3.) Safety
On every hunt, safety should always be your #1 priority. If your dog practices unsafe habits of any kind, you must break them of those habits before you go out on the hunt. For example, if your dog has a habit of breaking early, bind them to a tree or restrain them while the guns are going off. Always make sure your hunting party activates the safety of their guns before sending out your dog to prevent any major accidents from happening.
